Welcome

On my site I share affordable fashion for the mature woman. I want other people to share in the excitement of being the best version of themselves at any age.

The Vessel

The Vessel

The Vessel is a beautiful piece of architecture located on Hudson Yard and is part of a $25 billion project in Manhattan, New York. The construction was started in April of 2017, and it opened March 15, 2019. I was excited to go, but nothing prepared me for how striking this structure truly is. I would definitely advise you to get there early (we arrived at around 9:30 am) to get tickets to walk through this work of art. The tickets are free, and they are located at kiosks in the shops and through the public square and gardens. We signed up to go at 10:30am which gave us plenty of time to look around the area. The Vessel in some ways looks like a huge copper honey comb or a hive. It’s really quite impressive and beautiful. We walked up and showed our ticket that we had received through email. As we walked in, the center has an area you can lay your phone down on and set your timer to shoot a picture straight up through the center. I would have loved to have taken that picture, but the line was long. I was also ready to move up the stairs and look at the surrounding areas from higher up. The view are outstanding from all angles. This interactive piece of art was the brainchild of Thomas Heatherwick. It has over 2,500 individual steps and 80 landings. It made for a crazy work-out while we climbed throughout this structure and shot this outfit.

You all know I’m fond of mixing prints - well that goes for mixing animal print also. Todays outfit is a mix of zebra and leopard with a little pop of pink.

The camisole was part of the Nordstrom sale a couple weeks ago. I already had the same camisole, but in mint green that I wore here in this post. I like this cami, because it fits me well, and the v-neck doesn’t plunge down too low. I don’t mind a plunging neckline, but I’m not comfortable with it for my work attire.

The jacket is a couple of years old, but it’s a great weight for year round wear. It works really well as a layering piece with a coat over it. I’ve got a leopard coat that I think this blazer would look like dynamite under.

The leggings are faux leather from Spanx. I wish I had gotten a smaller size though. I was worried about them being too tight on the back of my legs. I bought a medium, and I really should have gotten a small. I might purchase another pair, because I know they are going to be worn a lot this fall and winter. I like wearing this faux leather legging under dresses and shorter skirts as the weather cools off.

These leopard pumps are at least 3, maybe even 4 years old. These shoes I have worn so much, and I they are in the first post I ever did on my blog. And that would be here. And I’m glad I got to wear them on my adventures at the Vessel.

As always thank you for following along!

XO
