Neutrals, Texture & a Pop of Color
Neutrals with Texture have always been my "comfort food" in clothes form. Well, let me back up-Neutrals with texture (and denim......I heard half of my closet scream, when I made the first comment.) have always been my "comfort food" in clothes form. I have also always been a fan of monochromatic, because it's a good look on everyone regardless of your size and it's a no brainer, hence the reason for my affection for dressing this way. Monochromatic can be wearing different shades of the same color or all the same shade. Wearing all the same color different textures will elevate this look to the next level. And this is exactly what I did the other day, in the midst of our dreary weather. The temperatures had gotten so low, and it was so cold outside, I started out with ivory denim, (and like I said texture is key) so to my ivory denim I added an ivory cable knit cashmere sweater, then combined that with a cream faux curly lamb long vest. And when it's this cold out, I can't leave without something covering my neck - so it was off to my scarf drawer. That's when this animal print scarf made its way around my neck, and the leopard booties on my feet. Feeling like I needed just a little something bright, I snatched up this Kate Spade bag with it's hot pink, red and black stripe. and hurried out to shoot this look before the best light of the day said good bye.
Stepping outside, the temperature slapped me in the face, it had gotten even colder and right then I realized, I needed to grab a jacket. As I turned and looked back at the coat rack inside the doorway, I saw the perfect solution-- this camel colored suede short jacket. To me that was the perfect answer for the situation!
Has that ever happened to you?
